The obsolete school buildings have been replaced by two modern constructions for kindergarten and primary education, designed to accommodate up to 240 students and 14 staff members. These new spaces prioritize natural light, flexibility, and versatility while meeting the current needs of the school.
The buildings are organized to minimize their footprint, share certain functions, and create efficient circulation, with primary circulation cores located mostly outdoors. The layout remains flexible and adaptable to future needs while preserving maximum outdoor areas for playgrounds and recreational spaces.
Each building houses classrooms and administrative functions, as well as a sports hall that can also serve as a cafeteria or multipurpose room. The open and bright volumes offer great flexibility, and a reconfigured pathway between the two sites creates a “school street,” visually and functionally connecting the buildings.
The buildings integrate harmoniously with their environment, connected to the green area to the north and existing vegetation. The courtyards are permeable, and landscaping fosters proximity to nature. A comprehensive mobility strategy organizes access points, drop-off zones, and soft circulation routes, including bicycles.
A solid timber (CLT) structure, timber cladding, and mirrored metal elements reflect the architectural intentions. The buildings engage in dialogue with each other and integrate seamlessly into the green context of the site.
